Your First 30 Days: What Actually Matters

A celiac diagnosis can feel overwhelming. The internet is full of conflicting advice, and most of it isn't written by people who actually have celiac disease. GlutenChat is different — every safety rating you see here comes from real members, and reviews from medically diagnosed celiacs carry more weight in our Trust Score algorithm.

Here are the three things that matter most in your first 30 days:

  1. Purge your kitchen. Cross-contamination from shared toasters, colanders, and wooden cutting boards is the #1 cause of accidental gluten exposure at home.
  2. Learn the "dedicated fryer" question. At any restaurant, always ask: "Do you have a dedicated gluten-free fryer?" If the answer is no, anything fried is off-limits — even if it's labeled gluten-free.
  3. Find your local safe restaurants. Use GlutenChat's Trust Score to find restaurants in your city that have been verified by diagnosed celiacs — not just lifestyle dieters.

What the GlutenChat Trust Score Means for You

Every restaurant in our directory has a Trust Score from 0 to 100. The score is calculated from community reviews, but not all reviews are equal. Reviews from members who have verified their celiac diagnosis carry a higher weight than reviews from lifestyle gluten-free members. This means a restaurant with a Trust Score of 85+ has been consistently safe for people with actual celiac disease — not just people avoiding gluten by choice.

Look for the green "Dedicated Fryer Verified" badge. It means a community member has confirmed within the last 90 days that the restaurant uses a fryer exclusively for gluten-free items.
